26/06/2017 Statement re Queensway House cladding samples

Cladding samples are being taken at Queensway House this afternoon (Monday 26 June), to be sent away to a government-approved testing establishment.

Our top priority is to protect residents, and although we have received confirmation from the refurbishment contractor that the cladding and insulation system is not the same as that used on Grenfell Tower, we want to take every precaution possible.

Our liaison with the government, Fire Service and independent specialists continues, as part of our ongoing inspection work. We are expecting to receive the test results in the next couple of days and will keep residents updated as soon as new information becomes available.

In the meantime, we would like to reassure all residents that we take fire safety very seriously, and have provided fire safety advice and information on the measures in place at Queensway House.

If residents have any questions or concerns, we encourage them to get in touch with the Hatfield Housing Office on 01707 357088 or email hatfield.housing@welhat.gov.uk

More information about the cladding used at Queensway House is available in our previous statement.
