Should you wish to see a member of the Council Tax and Business Rate Office in person, there is no need to make an appointment. Simply visit the main reception at the council offices at Campus East during the hours shown above, and a member of staff will be happy to see you.

Our service commitment to you.
The aim and purpose of the council tax and business rates service is to collect the tax on behalf of ourselves, Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Police Authority and parish councils. We aim to make sure the service is accountable to you by putting customers first and making access to our service efficient, simple and convenient.
To provide open, honest and clear communication to meet the needs of the community through the statutory administration, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates, whilst remaining within budget.
We always welcome your comments, whether good or bad, as your feedback will indicate to us where we are getting it right or where we can make improvements. Please contact us at c.tax@welhat.gov.uk.
Our Policy is to:
- Ensure all staff wear name badges, give their name over the telephone and treat all customers with respect.
- Communicate in plain English.
- Provide home visits on request for those with special needs.
- Answer 90% of incoming telephone calls in 14 seconds.
- Reply to 90% of correspondence within 10 working days.
- See 90% of all personal visitors within 10 minutes.
- Achieve 98% collection rate for Council Tax and Business Rates.
