Fireworks Registration

The Explosives Act 1875 permits the storage of a limited quantity of fireworks/explosives (5kg) for an unlimited period of time, or the storage of an unlimited quantity of fireworks for up to 14 days prior to their use.

Registration

It is a  requirement that Environmental Health and Licensing is informed of any public or large firework display using the Events Notification Form.  Environmental Health also run a voluntary registration scheme for organised displays around 5 November.  To receive an advice and information pack to ensure a safe and enjoyable event either complete the attached form, email E.Health@welhat.gov.uk  or ring 01707 357242.

Firework Noise

The Fireworks Regulations 2004 prohibit anyone under 18 from possessing fireworks, and anyone except professionals from possessing display fireworks. These regulations also prohibit the use of fireworks at night (11pm - 7am) in England and Wales, with extensions for the following festivals:

These regulations are enforced by the police.  There is a penalty of up to £5000 or six months in prison for breach of the curfew.
