Babysitting Service
There is no law which states the minimum age that a child can be left alone but it is an offence to leave a child alone when doing so puts the child at risk. The NSPCC recommend that most children under 13 should not be left for more than a short period and that no child under 16 should be left overnight. They suggest that parents consider the following before deciding to leave a child alone:
Chaperone Service
A child taking part in a performance, which can include TV or filming, theatre, sporting activities or modeling, will require chaperoning.
Childcare arrangements - after and/or before school childcare
Out of school services are for school-age children to play and learn and have fun in groups.
Childcare arrangements - childminding
A childminder is a man or woman who looks after children from birth to eight years, in his/her own home, for more than two hours a day, and receives a reward for this service. This does not apply if the child is a close relative i.e. grandchild, niece or nephew.
Childcare - services for childminders
The National Childminder's Association (NCMA) offers a wide range of services to childminders and parents regarding issues such as insurance and training. They operate both locally and nationally.
