A Wardens' Award

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council's Street Warden team has passed through a stringent assessment process to be recognised by the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme.

Their achievements were honoured in an award ceremony which took place on Thursday 1 November.

The scheme endows wardens with targeted police powers to deal with incidents such as anti-social behaviour, disorder and nuisance. Accredited individuals work with the police to share information. The team’s new powers include the confiscation of age-restricted products from minors – such as alcohol, tobacco, fireworks and knives. They also have the ability to request details of the name and address of anyone they believe to have committed an offence.
