Fancy being the next top designer or model? Then why not enter a team from your school, club or college into Welwyn Hatfield’s Fun-Key Fashion Show!

Welwyn Hatfield's Children and Young People's Partnership

Open to any young person attending school, college or a club, teams will have to design, make and model four fashions representing the seasons. Three designs will use clothes from charity shops and the fourth will be made from recycled goods.

Or if fashion isn’t your thing, you can get involved in set design, music, filming, make-up, hairstyling, production management, lighting, sound, photography or publicity.

Organisations from the Welwyn Hatfield Children and Young People’s Partnership (part of the Welwyn Hatfield Alliance) are leading the event, but the idea was originally thought up by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Councillor Kim Morris.

Cllr Morris said: “I’m so pleased that so many organisations have taken to the idea of a fashion show and are working to develop it – I really am very grateful for their support. I think this is a great way to tap into the skills of local young people, as well as get people thinking about reusing and recycling materials. This is a really exciting opportunity as the young people will be in charge of the two evenings, from designing the outfits to managing the production. There’s something for everyone to get involved in, so if you’re interested please get in touch.”

The Fun-Key Fashion Show will take place on 7 and 8 March 2008 at Prince Edward Hall, University of Hertfordshire. All proceeds will go to a children or young people’s charity of the production cast’s choice.
