Are you planning on going out trick or treating on Halloween? Or perhaps you’re thinking of buying some fireworks for Bonfire Night?

Members of the Community Safety Partnership – your partners for a safer, stronger neighbourhood – will be at Asda car park in Hatfield on Saturday 27 October from 10am to 2pm offering tips and advice on staying safe at Halloween and on Bonfire Night. Representatives from the Fire Service, Hertfordshire Constabulary, Ambulance Service and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council will all be available. Events include:
- Talks on firework safety
- Chip pan fire demonstration
- Fire information unit
- Police mobile van
- Ambulance van
- Community safety information
Everyone attending will also get free Halloween sweets.
If you are in the mood for celebrating Halloween early, why not come along in fancy dress? The Community Safety Partnership will be giving out goodie bags full of Halloween treats for the best costumes.
Councillor Richard Smith, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: “Halloween and Bonfire Night are both great fun, but it’s important to stay safe and also think how your behaviour impacts on other people. The main thing to remember at this time of year is to think before you act, whether you’re about to light a firework on Bonfire Night or knock on a stranger’s door at Halloween.
“The event on Saturday brings together everyone in the borough who has a role to play in keeping us safe. So if you’re out in Hatfield on Saturday, please stop by – we have some excellent, straight-forward tips that can make sure everyone has a safe and trouble-free time.”
The Community Safety Partnership will also be distributing leaflets about safety and suitable behaviour on Halloween and Bonfire Night to schools in the borough.
