On Sunday 16 September, the Welwyn Hatfield Cultural Festival was brought to a close with a fun day of activities at Gosling Sports Park’s annual Open Day in Welwyn Garden City.

For a small entrance fee, participants had the chance to try out a huge range of the Park’s sport and leisure facilities including skiing, fun rings, trampolining, squash, badminton, tennis, football, Jungle Mania and much more.
This is the second year that the Welwyn Hatfield Cultural Consortium, one of the lead partnerships of the Welwyn Hatfield Alliance, has co-ordinated a Summer Cultural Festival.
The festival started on Saturday 14 July with the Kaleidoscope Festival and FieldFest 2007. During the last couple of months, activities have been taking place around the borough. These have ranged from free swimming sessions and cricket schools to art and craft workshops and concerts and plays.
Councillor, Ron Wheeler, Chairman of Welwyn Hatfield Alliance’s Cultural Consortium, said: “As summer was a bit of a wash out, I think many people have found the Cultural Festival really helpful as many of the events and activities weren’t dependent on the sun shining! The aim of the Summer Cultural Festival is to raise awareness of the range of cultural activities available in the borough and to raise the profile of Welwyn Hatfield by bringing together the events of local groups in the areas of sport, leisure, art and heritage.
“Thank you to everyone who has been involved in bringing all these fantastic events together. I look forward to the Cultural Festival 2008 – I’m sure it will be even bigger and better!”
