Other ways to pay your Council Tax
There are a number of ways you can pay Council Tax.
By Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the most efficient and convenient way to pay Council Tax. Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is determined to keep the cost of collecting Council Tax as low as possible. That is where you, our customer, and the Direct Debit scheme can help us reduce costs and release money for vital services for the community.
It is not possible to register online but if you would like to pay by Direct Debit you can set it up by ringing the Council Tax unit on 01707 357000 and quoting your bank details. We can also amend existing details over the telephone.
Alternatively you can complete the Direct Debit form, including your Council Tax reference number, and return to the Council Tax Unit, Council Offices, The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire AL8 6AE.
Please download a copy of the Direct Debit Mandate or email c.tax@welhat.gov.uk for a Direct Debit form.
If you would like more information on how it works, the Direct Debit website can tell you more about the scheme.
Paypoint and the Post Office
Payment for Council Tax by cash can be made at any PayPoint outlet using a PayPoint card, whilst payment using the card can be made by cash or cheque at any Post Office in the UK. If you pay by cheque, please make it payable to "POST OFFICE LTD".
On making payment your card will be swiped and you will be issued with a printed receipt. There is no charge to you for this service. PayPoint offers more places to pay and the convenience of longer opening hours to make payments. There are several PayPoint outlets in the Welwyn Hatfield Borough displaying the PayPoint logo (see table below).
If you would like a PayPoint card or further information please contact the Council Tax unit on 01707 357000 or email c.tax@welhat.gov.uk.
