Complain about a Councillor
How do I complain about a Councillor?
Local Code of Conduct Complaints Process
Changes to the complaints procedure
From 8 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct is moving to the standards committees of local authorities.
What this means to you
After 8 May 2008 if you want to complain about the conduct of a member of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council or a member of any parish or town council within the borough of Welwyn Hatfield you must submit your complaint, together with any supporting evidence to:
Robert Baldock
Monitoring Officer
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
Council Offices
The Campus
Welwyn Garden City
Herts
AL8 6AE
A complaint form can be obtained on this web-site or from the Monitoring Officer, who can be contacted on 01707 357277. The Monitoring Officer can also be contacted if you require further advice on the new procedure.
The assessment sub-committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members’ Code of Conduct. If you make a complaint to the assessment sub-committee it must be about why you think a member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
