Annual Voter Registration Form – Don’t Lose Your Right To Vote

News Item Details

Date
2.43pm, 11 October 2006

Welwyn Hatfield Council’s Revised Register of Electors is effective from 1 December 2006 and provides a list of everyone in the borough who is registered to vote at forthcoming elections. The council is currently in the process of updating the register for next year’s elections.

By now, all residents will have received an Annual Voter Registration Form. Residents can either return the form by post (a freepost envelope is included) or record their registration by using the internet or free telephone response service. Please note that the phone or web service can only be used if all details currently on the form are correct. Any changes must be made using the postal form.

Residents are asked to do this by Sunday 19 November.

Michel Saminaden, Chief Executive of Welwyn Hatfield Council and Returning Office for the borough, said: “All residents aged eighteen and over who qualify for voting are legally required to appear on the Register of Electors – refusal or failure to provide accurate details could result in a fine of up to £1000. Residents are not automatically registered, even if they pay Council Tax, so it is vital to respond to the Annual Voter Registration Form.”

Please contact the Electoral Services Helpline Telephone Number on 01707 357000 with any queries about the register or form.
