Councillor Michael Long, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, is hosting a charity golf day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief and the Mixed Group, a charity specialising in care for the elderly and those living alone in Welwyn Hatfield.
The event takes place on Friday 26 September 2008 at Panshanger Golf Complex in Welwyn Garden City. Teams of four can enter for £45 each (a total of £180). There are great prizes up for grabs for hitting a hole in one including a brand new car, a four-day golfing holiday in Portugal, a two-day break for four at the famous Belfry course and a complete set of TaylorMade brand golf clubs. This a perfect day for golf enthusiasts, corporate entertainment or for those looking to have fun whilst supporting a good cause.
Also on offer are two prizes for the longest drive, four prizes for getting the closest to the pin, an 18-hole team competition using the Stableford scoring system, a putting competition and a chance to test yourself against the resident pro on a par-3 hole.
Breakfast and lunch are included and there will be a charity raffle and auction later in the day. There is a special auction to win a vintage model car, fully authenticated and a real treasure.
Cllr Long, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, said: “We are aiming for 15 teams, a total of 60 players this year. The event is always popular, and we hope to raise lots of money for two very good charities. I would like to extend my thanks to Panshanger Golf Complex; they have been very obliging and helpful.”
