The full amount of Council Tax that Welwyn Hatfield residents will pay was set at the special meeting of the Council on Wednesday 28 February 2007.

Overall the increase for 2007/2008 is approximately 4.5% but will vary slightly from Parish to Parish.

Welwyn Hatfield Council’s increase in its share of the Council Tax (2.9%) was agreed at its full Council meeting on Wednesday 7 February 2007. The base share of the Council Tax bill that is paid to the council is £172.53 for the year (based on Band D). This amount is augmented by special expenses of £15.39, which is allocated to areas dependent upon the specific services in that area.

The Council Tax bill also pays for services provided by Hertfordshire County Council, Herts Police Authority and Parish/Town Councils.
