The third of Welwyn Hatfield Council’s summer meetings took place on Wednesday 6 September at Woodhall Community Centre, Welwyn Garden City. The topics for consultation were Housing and Community (promises three and four from the Corporate Plan).
Attendance was consistent with previous meetings and residents used the discussion groups to provide councillors and officers with suggestions for short- and long-term objectives for the council.
Discussions ranged from future housing plans for the borough and town centre redevelopment projects to how the council can continue to improve as a landlord. Also up for discussion was how the council can use partnerships with other local organisations to make the borough a safer and more vibrant place to live.
All attendees will receive feedback on all the issues discussed within 28 days of the meeting – this feedback will also be available to view on the council’s website. Feedback from the previous two meetings is available to download from the council's website.
Councillor John Dean, Leader of the Council, said: “I would like to thank the residents who attended and contributed to this important event. We value all their comments and they will be a real help for us when we set our future objectives. I hope the attendees will communicate to their friends and neighbours that the council really is keen to hear from residents and I look forward to seeing a fantastic turn out for the State of the Borough Debate later this month.”
The State of the Borough Debate will be held on Thursday 21 September in the Council Chamber at Campus West. The debate will bring together all the Five Promises that have been discussed at the summer public meetings. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the meeting starting at 7pm.
As well as a formal question and answer session with councillors and council officers, residents will also have the chance to speak with the relevant officers in smaller groups.
