Welwyn Hatfield Council is urging residents to attend the public meeting taking place on 14 February to discuss the East of England plan to build 10,000 homes in Welwyn Hatfield.
The meeting, which starts at 7.30pm, will take place in the Council Chamber at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City.
The council will be explaining the government’s proposed plan to build 10,000 new homes in the borough, which is 4,200 more than can be accommodated without encroaching on the green belt. The council will advise residents how they can comment on the plan and why it is so important for them to take part in the public consultation, which ends on 9 March.
Councillor Mandy Perkins, Executive Member for Planning and Environmental Health, said “If people really care about the amount of proposed development within the borough they need to make sure that their voice is heard and take part in the public consultation. I would urge local people to attend so we can explain exactly why the proposal is such bad news for our borough, and how they can do their bit to try to rebut these ill-conceived proposals.”
