There’s only a week left to go so don’t miss out on your chance to nominate someone for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s Civic Awards.

The Civic Awards, sponsored by Serco (the council’s service partner for Streetscene services), are presented annually to people who live or work in the borough, for a range of achievements. Possible achievements include, but are not limited to, service to the community; bravery/courage; environmental work; arts and sports; education; and heritage.

Nomination leaflets are available from all council receptions or by phoning 01707 357000 or emailing contact-whc@welhat.gov.uk  Candidates can also be nominated online.

For inclusion in the 2008 Civic Awards, nominations must be submitted by Friday 15 February 2008

The winners will be presented with their prizes at the Annual Council Meeting and Reception on Monday 19 May 2008. Prizes consist of a cheque for £250, a certificate, a trophy and an entry in the council’s roll of honour book.

Councillor Carl Storer, who chairs the judging panel for the Civic Awards, said: “I know there are a lot of people in our borough who have achieved incredible things and made a real impact on the lives of others. This is the perfect opportunity to give these people the recognition they deserve, so get your nominations in!”
