News Item Details

Date
2.20pm, 31 January 2008

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council invites all small- to medium-sized local businesses to attend a special meeting about business opportunities associated with the 2012 Olympic Games.

The meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Monday 11 February at the Council Chamber, Campus West, Welwyn Garden City.

Speakers will include Councillor Chris White (Herts County Councillor Olympic Champion), John Fuller (Hertfordshire 2012 Co-ordinator) and Steve Benson (Hertfordshire Business Link).

Colin Smyth, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s Sport Partnership Officer, said: “Delivering the Games will require the procurement of goods, works and services from an enormous range of firms. London 2012 expects to have around 7,000 direct contracts and there are opportunities for a huge range of businesses, from construction, engineering and manufacturing to creative, merchandising and retail. I strongly encourage local businesses to come along to this meeting – it’s the perfect way to find out how the Olympics can benefit you and your company.”

If you are interested in attending or would like to find out more please contact Colin Smyth on c.smyth@welhat.gov.uk or 01707 357216.
