09/08/2006 - Welwyn Hatfield Council resolves to support Fairtrade in Borough

Welwyn Hatfield Council is pleased to announce it has resolved to support and promote the concept of Fairtrade in the borough as part of its wider commitment to social responsibility.

The resolution was made at a meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday 8 August.

To show commitment to the Fairtrade concept, the council will make Fairtrade refreshments available at council meetings wherever possible.

Councillor John Dean, Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Council said: “I am pleased that the council have resolved to support the concept of Fairtrade in Welwyn Hatfield. By using Fairtrade products we are, in a small way, helping to support people in the third world. I would encourage residents to think about joining us in the use of Fairtrade products.”
