07/03/2006 Death of Councillor Patricia Storey

With regret we report the death of Patricia Storey, former Chairman of Welwyn Hatfield Council.

She starting serving as a District Councillor in 1976 and was Chairman between 2004-05.

Mrs Storey had represented the Welham Green Ward since 1999 and had been a member of the North Mymms Parish Council continuously since 1974, during which time she had been its Chairman 6 times.

Councillor Storey was a member of the Women’s Institute and during her membership served as its Treasurer, Secretary and President.

Her interest in planning and protection of the countryside encouraged her to become a member of the North Mymms Green Belt Society where she served on the committee and as Chairman and was later made a Vice President.

Councillor Storey also served as a School Governor at Chancellors School, Brookmans Park Primary School and Streamwoods School.

Any spare time she had was devoted to her life long love of horses and the promotion and protection of the countryside environment.

At present funeral plans are unknown.
