News Item Details

Date
2.53pm, 27 July 2007

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is hosting a meeting for an open discussion about anti social behaviour issues at St Mary’s North Mymms School, Welham Green, on Wednesday 8 August.

The meeting, which will start at 7pm, will be chaired by Councillor John Dean, Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm.

The council will hold meetings on anti social behaviour at various places around the borough. The aim of the meetings is to give local people the chance to meet the council officers and police who are available to help keep their neighbourhood or village peaceful.

The constable and police community support officers assigned to the local ward will be on the panel, together with the council’s anti-social behaviour team. Environmental health officers and more police officers will also be available to address, among other things, noise and traffic issues.

Any questions that cannot be answered on the night will be responded to in writing. Within four weeks the council will circulate a bulletin showing what action is being taken on each topic. This will be sent to everyone who leaves their contact details, and will also be posted on the council’s website, www.welhat.gov.uk

Councillor John Dean, Leader of the Council and chairman of the meeting, said: “We promised in our Corporate Plan to take firm action against anti social behaviour. These meetings are a genuine opportunity for residents to raise any concerns and alert us to current problems. We hope that residents will take advantage of this opportunity to talk directly to the people who can help alleviate anti social behaviour problems.”
