Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has produced its second Annual Report, entitled “Putting People First.”
This report is being distributed to every home in the Borough along with the autumn edition of the council’s LIFE magazine. This is the first time that the report has been sent to every household, and is a key way in which the council can report recent achievements and future targets to all residents.
It also helps the council to meet its promise to be accountable to residents.
The report provides a breakdown of what the council has spent its portion of council tax on during the past year, as well as what the council has achieved against its corporate targets set out under all of the 5 Promises.
This year, the report includes a series of “Day in the Life” articles which highlight the roles of council employees who deliver some of the excellent services which improve quality of life in the Borough. These explain the high impact and tangible differences which employees are making in local communities, and the positive changes being made to local people’s lives.
Councillor Steven Markiewicz, Executive Member for Performance and Communications, said: “The Annual Report helps us to show residents how the council is meeting its published targets across all of our services. It is important that local people know precisely what we are doing and what plans we have to further improve quality of life in the future. I would ask all residents to take the time to read this informative report if they want to know what we spend their money on locally.”
Any residents who have not received a copy of the Annual Report, or would like an additional copy, should contact the council on 01707 357000 and ask for the Performance and Strategy Team. Alternatively copies of the report are available from all council receptions, and can also be downloaded from the council’s website www.welhat.gov.uk.
