Councillor Michael Long has been elected the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council at the Annual Council meeting held on 19 May 2008, for this municipal year.The Deputy Mayor is Councillor Kim Morris. Here you wil find out more about the Mayor and his role in the community.

Councillor Michael Long is the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
Councillor Michael Long represents the Hatfield East ward and has been a member for four years.
Councillor Long joined the Army after his schooling and served in the Cavalry regiment. He also boxed for his unit.
He then married and has a daughter and a son, a stepson and daughter, several grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He has lived in Hatfield since 1961 and has had jobs as a long distance lorry driver and a London cab driver.
For his Charity Appeal this year, he has chosen to support The Mixed Group, based in Welwyn Garden City and Macmillan Cancer Support, based in Welwyn.
