Climate Change Strategy

We are currently carrying out consultation on the council's first Climate Change strategy.

We all have a responsibility to change the way we consume energy in order to reduce the effects of climate change and assure the wellbeing of future generations.

In 2006 the council made a commitment to tackling climate change by signing up to the Nottingham Declaration; a pledge to actively tackle climate change in the borough.  The council has developed a strategy after a thorough review of current operational practices and emissions.

Draft Climate Change Strategy

This document sets out Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s response to climate change and highlights the strategies we will adopt to reduce our impact on the environment. We will continue our work with local and national partners to promote greener living in the local community.

Tell us what you think of the strategy using our online form.

This is your opportunity to tell us what your main environmental concerns are and where we should be targeting our resources. Your suggestions will be incorporated in the final strategy which will be finalised and adopted in September 2008.

Consultation is open until 30 June 2008.

If you wish to learn more about the strategy or to offer support to climate change in Welwyn Hatfield contact Vin Appasawmy, Energy Efficiency Officer, on 01707 357399.
