Country conservation
We have been responsible for wildlife assets in the District for many years.
Current work includes pond restoration for amphibians, coppicing woodland for flora and birds, ride widening for butterflies and conservation grazing for meadow flowers and insects. Key sites have management plans which help to steer our work, explain our objectives and encourage the communities involvement in long term planned improvements.
Much of this work is grant aided by the Forestry Commission and Defra. Northaw Great Wood, Sherrardspark Wood, Danesbury, Singlers Marsh and The Commons are the major recipients of this funding. Commitments within these long term grants steer our annual management projects.
