Drainage
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council does not provide a drain clearing or unblocking service to owner, occupiers or commercial premises.
The Environmental Health Department may get involved if work to correct drain defects does not take place. Council House tenants should contact Housing Maintenance on 0800 1111 4484.
Blocked or defective main sewers (which usually run under the road) are the responsibility of Thames Water. You can call them on 08459 200800.
Blocked or defective private sewers and drains are the responsibility of the owners of the properties that use them (either residential or business). A limited number of other drains and sewers are public and the advice leaflet linked below will explain which these are.

Environmental Health may also become involved when the owners of private drains and sewers are unable to resolve defects themselves. This will involve an investigation and may result in the service of statutory notices on the owners of the properties. Any work undertaken by the council to remedy defects will be charged to the users of the drain/sewer.
