Infectious diseases
Environmental Health has a duty to investigate the causes of food-borne infectious diseases.
Working with the Health Protection Agency, the Environmental Health service is responsible for ensuring that cases and outbreaks of certain infectious diseases are investigated and managed.
If you believe you are suffering from food poisoning you should visit your GP (doctor). This is the starting point for any investigation.
For further information, please visit our Food poisoning & infectious disease investigations page, which describes in detail the investigation process as well as the symptoms that one may have from food poisoning or other highly infestious illness.
