Recycling Service Extended

New measures to meet resident’s request for better recycling service and facilities was approved at Welwyn Hatfield Council’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday night (5 September).

The key decision, subject to Full Council, now means that:

• All residents living in houses in the borough who do not have a brown bin for garden waste and would like one will have this provided early next year (January – March) ready for the service to start in April 2007
• Residents living in houses, particularly in new build areas, that do not have a glass and paper bins will receive these by the end of the year for the service to start in January 2007.
• Banks for recycling plastic bottles will be introduced at existing and new recycling centres throughout the borough in December 2006. Discussions on sites for the containers are ongoing.
