Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Tree Warden Scheme celebrates first anniversary

News Item Details

Date
10.03am, 20 March 2007

Sixty of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s volunteer Tree Wardens have helped councillors and council officers celebrate the first anniversary of the Tree Warden Scheme.

The wardens gathered on Thursday 15 March for an anniversary meeting where they were thanked for all their hard work over the past year.

The wardens also heard presentations from Jon Stokes of the Tree Council, who updated the wardens on the Tree Council’s latest news and initiatives, and from the Welwyn Hatfield Council tree officers, who advised the wardens of what tree problems they should look for and how to report them.

Tree Wardens help the council by gathering information about their local trees such as reporting on storm damage or vandalism and support and encourage local practical projects such as monitoring newly planted trees.
