Thursday 30 March 2006 is the date for local businesses to drop in at a Health and Safety ‘Ask and Advice Day’ at Campus West.
Organised by Welwyn Hatfield Council for small- and medium-sized businesses in the district, there will be a selection of displays and short talks by the Environmental Health department, as well as additional exhibits from the Health and Safety Executive and Herts Fire Brigade.
It is an informal day, with the Environmental Health team there to advise and assist with health and safety issues in a business. You can drop in any time between 10am and 4pm
The aim of this free event is to raise awareness of occupational ill health and assist businesses to comply with their legal duties. Talks will focus on manual handling and reducing the amount of back pain experienced through work activities, a short guide to risk assessment and advice on new legislation.
Councillor Mandy Perkins, executive member for Planning and Environmental Health, said: “This is a real opportunity for local businesses to find out more. Employers can and should take action to prevent or minimise work related ill health. Welwyn Hatfield Council and the HSE are working hard to ensure that workplaces are aware of what they need to do and best practice to keep themselves and their employees safe.”
