Kerbside recycling services
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council operates a kerbside collection of paper, glass and garden waste from the vast majority of homes in the borough.
The service
We operate fortnightly collections of glass, paper and garden waste. Glass and paper are collected in the same week, garden waste is collected on the alternate week.
- We provide green boxes for paper and red boxes for glass collections.
- To take part in the garden waste scheme you need to have a brown wheelie bin provided by the council (please note a new policy applies to the provision of brown bins) or buy special garden waste sacks.
- To request recycling boxes, a brown bin or a recycling calendar please telephone 01707 357000 or email contact-whc@welhat.gov.uk.
- For more information, see the frequently asked questions page.
- To report a missed bin to the contact centre, use our online form or ring (01707) 357000. For more information on missed collections, please see our missed collections page.
Recycling in flats
Mini recycling banks can be installed to enable residents living in flats to recycle. A suitable location will need to be found which is convenient for both residents and our recycling lorries. The mini-banks consist of two fixed wheeled bins to collect paper, as well as glass and cans.
To enquire about the possibility of having a mini-bank installed, contact us. Please be aware that we receive a large number of requests for mini-banks and an inspection will need to take place. Also, new requests may need to be added to a waiting list, whilst previous requests are inspected and installed. However, the officer responsible will contact you to inform you if your enquiry has been successful.
