Waste Awareness and Education
Recycling is often the most heavily promoted and practised waste management option, but you can do more! Whilst recycling should play an important role in managing waste, taking responsibility for our waste involves much more.
Recycling talks
To help improve Waste Awareness within the local community, the council’s Waste Awareness Officer is available to speak to schools or interested groups about waste and reducing waste by using the 3Rs. Talks can be designed around your specific interests or needs. In schools, educational talks and activities can be tailored around both key stage 1 and 2 subjects. To be put in touch with the Waste Awareness Officer, please enquire via the contact centre.
Schools may wish to visit the Hertfordshire WasteAware website for more information on Waste Awareness. The education section includes an online version of the key stage 2 pack and more information about the key stage 3 pack.
The Recycling Guide
The Recycling Guide is a colourful website which emphasises the importance of recycling and provides advice on how people can recycle at home and in schools. The site is informative and there is a useful tips section.
