Food Waste Challenge

Have you ever considered the amount of energy, fuel and water that went into producing the food on your plate? Not to mention the money you spent putting it there! Join our Food Waste Challenge today and help cut your spending - it's estimated that the average family could save £700 per year!

Taking part in the Food Waste Challenge will give you and your family the chance to see how easily you can save some cash, and help the environment too. And as a reward for your efforts, we will offer everyone taking part a free home compost bin*.

You'll be asked to record how much food you throw away for two weeks. Participants will then be sent a goody bag containing useful equipment and tools to help them minimise their food waste as much as possible for the next four weeks.

If you'd like to take part, please get in touch by Friday 21 July. You can email contact-whc@welhat.gov.uk or call 01707 357000. The challenge itself will begin at the start of August.
