Food Hygiene Standards Summary for Local Businesses
All food businesses operating in the borough are subject to a food hygiene inspection by the council’s environmental health department. On this page you can download our food hygiene standards summary for any food business operating in the borough.
How to use the food hygiene standards summary
To search for a particular business:
- open the food hygiene standards summary
- click on the search icon (binoculars) in the toolbar
- when the search facility opens, type in the name of the establishment
- click search
What do the different headings mean?
The food hygiene standards summary shows the level of compliance for Food Hygiene and Safety, Structural Hygiene and Confidence in Management found at the time of the last inspection.
Food Hygiene and Safety
Food Hygiene and Safety procedures include food handling practices and procedures and temperature control. They are graded on six levels:
- excellent
- very good
- satisfactory
- less than satisfactory
- bad
- very bad
Structural Hygiene
Structural Hygiene includes cleanliness, layout, condition of the building, lighting, ventilation and facilities (such as refrigeration). It is graded on six levels:
- excellent
- very good
- satisfactory
- less than satisfactory
- bad
- very bad
Confidence in Management
Confidence in Management includes the track record of the business, willingness to act on previous advice/enforcement, the complaint history and the attitude of management towards food hygiene and safety. Confidence in Management is graded as:
- high confidence
- reasonable confidence
- some confidence
- little confidence
- no confidence
All the gradings in the summary are based on the Food Hygiene Scoring System in Annex 5 of the Food Law Code of Practice (England). Businesses which have low level gradings will have been revisited since the last inspection date to ensure that standards have improved (please note the disclaimer at the top of the summary).
