Welwyn Hatfield Council has been successful in a bid for funding for affordable housing schemes in the district, winning an allocation of nearly £13 million from the National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP).

Darren Welsh, the Council’s Chief Housing Officer (Strategic Services), said, “This award from NAHP is great news for the district. The money will be used to fund the development of 349 new affordable homes, helping the Council to meet its promise in the Council’s Corporate Plan to maximise the number of new affordable homes being built for local people. Further details will be reported to Cabinet in June.”

The Corporation announced the bid results at the end of March. Only Dacorum and East Herts were awarded more than Welwyn Hatfield (£15m and £14m respectively). Other districts were awarded amounts that ranged from £308,000 to £6m.
