Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) - Licensing
The council operates an HMO Licensing scheme as required by the Housing Act 2004. Any HMO that is in a building of three storeys or more and that has five or more occupants must be licensed.
Housing advice - existing private tenancy
The vast majority of landlords are responsible and fair. In the unlikely event of you experiencing trouble with your landlord, the council may be able to help.
Private Landlords Forum
As part of the Councils ongoing Private Housing Strategy we host a Private Landlords Forum which meets once a quarter to raise and discuss issues that affect both Private Landlords and the Council.
Purchasing the freehold of your house
Owning a leasehold property means you own the building but not the land it is built on. The freeholder owns the land and you pay ground rent.
