Aids and Adaptations

If you are a housing association tenant
Housing Associations will often carry out and pay for any home adaptations you need, provided that an occupational therapist has recommended that they are necessary. If the work costs more than £500 the association may be able to get Housing Corporation funding towards the cost.
If you are a private tenant
Your landlord may carry out the work with advice from an occupational therapist if desired. If major adaptations are needed and your landlord cannot or will not pay for these, you may qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant.
If you own your home (including leaseholders)
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for funding to help with the cost of aids and adaptations if you cannot afford these yourself. Sources of funding include the following:
