Scheme Managers and Mobile Wardens

Scheme Managers and Mobile Wardens provide support to elderly residents living in supported accommodation, which is available 24 hours a day.

What does a Scheme Manager do?

The Scheme Manager's role is to enable residents to live independently and to help with co-ordinating their care.  They do not directly provide care themselves, but are ideally placed to tell other agencies if residents need extra help.  They have excellent contacts with other support agencies and voluntary organisations working within the District.

Roles our Scheme Managers cannot take on

All supported homes have an alarm call system, which can be used to summon help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Residents can receive regular calls from their Scheme Manager through this system if they wish.  Managers can also arrange visits to those who need additional support.

If someone's normal support system breaks down we can arrange for emergency prescriptions and shopping to be collected.  Residents can use the alarm call system to request this.

The role of the Mobile Warden

A team of Mobile Wardens provide cover for all supported homes when the Scheme Managers are off duty.  They are available around the clock to assist in emergencies.  If necessary they will visit the person in need, arrange any additional help required, and remain with the person until the situation is resolved.
