The Lifeline alarm system
Lifeline is the name of the alarm call system, which is connected to the Council's Communications Centre.
For homes owners, Council and private tenants
We can install 'Lifeline' alarm call equipment for a weekly charge to Council tenants and a quarterly charge for private tenants and home owners who do not live in sheltered schemes.
Units are installed in the home and connect directly with our Communications Centre at the press of a button. From here our trained operators will summon the help needed to deal with any emergency.
For tenants of Housing Associations (and other Registered Social Landlords)
The Council provides an out of hours emergency cover to some housing association residents when their own Scheme Manager is off-duty.
Listening Lifeline
For others who may need help, such as younger people with a disability, the Council does in some circumstances offer a 'Listening Lifeline'. For a small charge we will keep the details of carers and relatives at the Communications Centre. When we receive a call for help these people are called out in a prioritised order, with the emergency contact as a last resort.
Our Communications Centre
All our alarm call systems are linked to our Communications Centre, which is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Our trained operators respond to emergency calls, offer reassurance and arrange appropriate help.
We ask everyone linked to the Centre to tell us about any disability they have, as well as giving us the name and telephone number of their doctor and any family members and carers. We guarantee these details are treated in the strictest confidence.
