Cemetery Services

The passing of a loved one can be a traumatic and difficult experience.  There is no right or wrong way to deal with grief and it often continues long after the burial.  There is lots of support and help available to you from various Bereavement organisations and Cemetery Services

Welwyn Hatfield Cemetery Services maintain four burial grounds including the Welwyn Hatfield Lawn Cemetery.  Each cemetery has a unique character and offers various facilities, including chapels and remembrance gardens.  All of our burial grounds are open 365 days a year, including all bank holidays and Christmas Day.  Our cemeteries include:

• St Etheldredas Church

It is important to maintain Parkland and Wildlife habitats.  All memorial gardens provide an opportunity for the public to remember their loved ones in a quiet and peaceful environment.  In an attempt to preserve the peace, tranquility and high maintenance of our grounds, we request that all dogs are only allowed on leads.

The council recently updated their (Standards and Regulation) standards and regulations [1MB] in relation to the cemeteries within the borough.

Genealogy and searching our records

Limited burial information such as grave numbers can be given out over the telephone.  If more in depth information is required, then an appointment may be required for a cemetery officer to search through our archived records.
