Garden waste sacks

If you have more garden waste than will fit in your brown bin, we will also collect it in WHBC compostable sacks. These are available at the following outlets, priced at £4.15 for 5. Please ensure that you read the use and storage instructions printed on the sacks to avoid any mishaps.

Outlets

  • Brookmans Park Post Office
  • Cuffley Parish Council (by Maynard Place Library)
  • Ashvins News/Post Office (near Hopfields) Birchwood, Hatfield
  • Hatfield Leisure Centre, Travellers Lane, Hatfield
  • Hatfield Swim Centre, Lemsford Road, Hatfield Town Centre
  • Jim McDonald Centre, Hilltop, Hatfield
  • Bill Salmon Centre (Opposite Boots), Hatfield Town Centre
  • Welwyn Parish Council Offices (Lockleys Drive) Mon/Wed/Fri, 9am-1pm only)
  • Campus West, WGC
  • Woodhall Hardware Store, Woodhall Parade, WGC
  • Panshanger Hardware Store, Moors Walk, WGC
  • Huttons Newsagents, Marsden Road, WGC
  • Douglas Tilbe House, Hall Grove, (near Ludwick Arms), WGC

Any other type of compostable or biodegradable sack will not be collected. We only collect WHBC sacks because these are accepted by the composting facility we use, and completely break down to leave no residue in the final compost. Unfortunately not all compost bags do the same, and for this reason we cannot collect them.

Alternatively if you have excess garden waste, you may like to try home composting, or you can use Hertfordshire County Council's Household Waste Recycling Centres where you can recycle your garden waste.
