23/07/2010 All the fun of the fairTrying to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays can be quite challenging, as every parent knows. Now they can look no further every Thursday throughout August as the council hosts a free fun activities programme in Welwyn Garden City town centre, outside the main entrance to the Howard Centre. The first event is on 5 August. From 10am to 5pm, parents can have a bit of a rest while the children 'roll up, roll up' and experience all the fun of our seaside fair themed events. They can watch Punch and Judy, play games at side shows, tackle the mega slide, win prizes, get their faces painted and sample candy floss, doughnuts and popcorn. Punch and Judy shows are three times a day: 11-11.30am, 1-1.30pm and 2.30-3pm. "It's often difficult trying to keep children entertained through the six weeks holiday'" says Nicola Kane, Town Centre Manager. "We want to help parents to enjoy their summer too. Plus, the majority of activities are free, which helps to keep the cost of the summer holidays down, in what can be a very expensive time for parents." There is a small charge for the fun fair rides and mega slide. Share This page was last updated on 04/08/2010 |
