Paintings and photographs inspired by recent trips to Tiree in the Inner Hebrides and Guernsey, plus a selection of Paul's other fine art work.

Maxine uses a variety of media incorporating printmaking, handmade Indian papers with beadwork, wool and netting. Each piece is uniquely formed with emphasis on the natural and spiritual world.

This exhibition will explore the history of the de Havilland Company and how it shaped the development and growth of Hatfield. With fascinating insights, bringing back memories for ex-employees, it's a fun exhibition too built with families in mind.

The history of the local pubs, inns and breweries.  From the Crooked Billet, to the Wrestlers, the Eight Bells, to the Stonehouse, the Gun Inn, to the Woodman.  Find out how they came into being and how they changed over the years.

An exhibition celebrating the district's sporting achievement past and present.  The exhibition features sports memorabilia, equipment and photographs from the museum's collections and a film prepared by students from the University of Hertfordshire.  

As part of this project we are working with WHSPAA to try to identify local Sporting Heroes past and present.  Find out more about local Olympians and Paralympians by taking a look at our list of sports people and the disciplines in which they have competed.

Charles Paine has been described as one of the country's most gifted designers. Born in Salford in October 1895, he moved to the Garden City and was hired by the Welwyn Garden City Company to create a series of posters advertising the town. The posters, designed to publicise the availability of homes to buy and rent in the Garden City, came in a series of four, entitled 'Spring', 'Summer', 'Autumn' and 'Winter', and were displayed in the London Underground.

Enjoy old photographs of local houses and landmarks from our extensive archives, all of which can be ordered from the museum if you see a photo that you like.
