Craft Courses and Workshops

A variety of workshops, courses and taster sessions are available in the beautiful setting of Mill Green in subjects as diverse as wood turning, photography, quilting, bee keeping etc. They are all friendly, practical and taught by experts. A programme of FREE craft demonstrations is run on Sundays and some Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the summer months to coincide with the serving of Cream Teas.

Willow Workshops

Hazel Godfrey will run two willow workshops for those who would like to explore this traditional craft. Hazel is a renowned local willow artist who will expertly teach you.

Willow Dragonfly Garden Sculpture Workshop

Willow Dragon Fly
Beautifully coloured fresh willows will be incorporated into this amazing piece of art which will enhance any garden. Impress your friends with this bespoke sculpture as you enjoy your outdoor time.

In this workshop you will learn the techniques to make a lovely willow dragonfly. You will use a basic willow weave for the body, a corn dolly weave for the thorax and head, and a random weave on the wings.

Suitable for beginners. Finished work will be approx 40 x 50cms

Bring a packed lunch. Refreshments will be provided as well as all of the equipment and natural materials.

Four Day Woodturning Course

As a great follow on from the Woodturning Taster Day. Under Colin Smith's expert guidance, you will be able to build your skills and also your confidence, taking home some truly beautiful pieces.

16th - 19th September 2014

9.30am to 4.30m each day

This short 4 day course at Mill Green Mill and Museum will be based in our garage workshop under the expert guidance of Colin Smith, a gifted wood turning craftsman.

Each wood working student will be given instruction on tool maintenance and have the use of their own dedicated lathe throughout the course. Over the four days the students will produce a turned bowl as well as some spindle works in the form of candlesticks or alternative pieces using the same technique.

 Lunch and refreshments will be provided as well as all of the equipment and materials.

There has been a watermill at Mill Green for over 1000 years. Become part of its tradition by learning to mill, as many others have done before you here. Invite a friend to join you, enjoy a delicious home made lunch and then bake a loaf of bread with the flour you have made.

Natural Decorative Crafts Course - Christmas Decorations and Gifts

Come and have some festive fun at Mill Green. Join our course tutor Rae Fairburn and create beautiful bespoke handmade decorations for your home.

Each day will begin at 10am and finish at 2pm. Refreshments will be provided as well as all of the equipment and materials.
