Welwyn Hatfield Lawn CemeterySouthway, Hatfield
The Welwyn Hatfield Lawn Cemetery was opened on Monday 2nd April 1984 by the Lord Bishop of Hertford. The landscape of the cemetery is that of a lawn, which means only headstones are placed at the head of the grave space. The size and shape of the memorials are constrained to ensure a unified landscape and that the grass is mown and tendered for. For further details please see our Memorials. The majority of the cemetery was consecrated by The Right Reverend Kenneth Pillar and the Arch Deacon of St Albans on 27th March 1984 according to the rights of the Church of England. However there are sections of the cemetery which are not consecrated which facilitate for differing faith burials, including Islamic faiths. For more information please Cemetery Services.
