Current talks and events programme (Museum Friends)

Forthcoming events organised by the Friends of Welwyn Hatfield Museums - all are welcome, please come along.

Talks are held in the seminar room at Mill Green Museum. Doors open at 7.30 for 8pm, (evening talks) or 2.00 for 2.30pm (afternoon talks) with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. 

Admission is by ticket only

Friends are advised to purchase tickets in advance because of the strict limitation on numbers that can be admitted. Friends' members' tickets are £3, available up to three months in advance; non-member tickets are £5. If you can't get down to the museum, contact us on the day to see if there are still seats available.


River Mimram Wednesday 19 June, at (7.30 for 8 pm Talk: Tony Rook - Flow Gently, Sweet Mimram.
A picturesque little river links together historic sites and landscapes through Hertfordshire. We will look at  country houses, gardens, mills ...

A not too serious look at the history of mechanical music: a little music, a little history, and a little mechanical detail


Tea And Scones Sunday 1 September 2013, Friends' 10th Anniversary celebration Cream Tea at Mill Green.

An opportunity to get together and reminisce over the first ten years of the Friends' existence. Illustrations of past activities will be on hand to jog those happy memories. Classic Mill Green cream teas will be served, along with a few extras to mark the occasion.

David Steed Wednesday, 16 October, (7.30 for 8 pm) David Steed: A Celebration of Poetry and Music

Poems by Burns, Shakespeare, Stevenson, Lear, Rossetti and W. H. Davis that have been set to music by Michael Head, Quilter and Ralph Vaughan Williams will be read and sung by David.
