Our popular ‘hands on’ Miller’s Kitchen display welcomes all ages to learn how Mill Green might have looked in late Victorian times. You can walk into the actual house where miller Thomas Lawrence lived with his wife Letitia, his two small children, and their 13 year old servant Sophia. With things to smell, hear, touch and do.

Welwyn Hatfield Now and Then: a photographic exhibition

Campus West, ground floor corridor, throughout 2008

A great chance to compare and contrast photos of the same areas of the borough now and in the past. Learn how different streets developed in very different ways. Enjoy old photographs of local houses and landmarks from our extensive archives, all of which can be ordered from the museum if you see a photo that you like.

Made in Welwyn Hatfield

Campus West, ground floor corridor, throughout 2008

Everyone knows that Shredded Wheat has been made for many years in Welwyn Garden City. But did you know that over the years a tremendous variety of other objects have been made in our borough, including aeroplanes, cardboard boxes, toy guns, wirelesses and eel spears? This fascinating little exhibition showcases an intriguing selection from the museum’s stores, and is well worth a look.
