An eight week public consultation on the Local Plan Consultation Document closed on 20th January 2015

Together with the Emerging Core Strategy matters set out in the Local Plan Consultation Document were intended to form the basis of the new Local Plan for the borough by setting out options for the allocation of sites, updating options for strategic policies and setting out the topics to be covered in development management policies.

It was accompanied by a Draft Infrastructure Delivery Plan and Sustainability Appraisal.

The comments were considered at the council's Cabinet Housing and Planning Panel on the 24 September 2015. Around 5,900 comments were made on the three consultation documents, as follows:

  • 5,481 comments on the Local Plan Consultation Document from 1,597 individuals and organisations;
  • 297 comments on the Draft Infrastructure Delivery Plan from 79 individuals and organisations;
  • 102 comments on the Sustainability Appraisal of the Consultation Document from 34 individuals and organisations.

The Council has produced a pdf icon Local Plan Consultation Statement 2015 [2MB], setting out how the 2016 Draft Local Plan Proposed Submission responds to issues raised in response to the Local Plan Consultation Document.

A number of new and amended sites were proposed to the Council for consideration to be included in the Local Plan and these have now all been assessed in the Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment.
