Supplementary Design Guidance
The Welwyn Hatfield Council Supplementary Design Guidance is a material consideration for the determination of planning applications.
The Supplementary Design Guidance was adopted as a Statement of Council Policy on 8th February 2005 and as such is a material consideration for the determination of planning applications.
In line with the sustainability objectives of the plan, all new development must be designed to incorporate the principles of good quality, sustainable design. This document therefore provides guidance for the design and layout of all new development in the district to supplement the policies in the District Plan.
The Supplementary Design Guidance incorporates a sustainability checklist, which applicants can use to demonstrate that their application addresses the aims of sustainable development. Also included in the document is a section providing guidance for alterations and extensions to existing properties.
