Identification of Potential Areas to Accommodate Gypsy and Traveller Pitches in Northern and Eastern Hertfordshire undertaken by Scott Wilson
Identification of the Need for Gypsy and Traveller Pitches
This study follows on from the Northern and Eastern Hertfordshire Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment which was undertaken by Opinion Research Services on behalf of the partnership of local authorities in June 2006. This sought to establish the extent of need for additional sites and concluded that there is a predicted need for 45 additional pitches in the whole study area up to 2011; 20 permanent pitches to accommodate those already on the waiting list, 15 permanent pitches to accommodate new household formation from existing households, and 10 transit pitches to meet transit or emergency stop-over site provision. Beyond 2011, the accommodation assessment further advises that continuing provision for around 15–20 additional pitches every five years will need to be made due to household formation over the next 25 years.
