Welwyn Garden City Leisure and Community Review
The Welwyn Garden City Leisure and Community Review was commissioned to support the delivery of the council’s key priorities and promises set out in the Corporate Plan 2006-2010 and the council’s Cultural Strategy “Enjoying Life”, as well as Welwyn Hatfield’s Community Plan.
The Review identifies local leisure and community needs, audits existing facilities and contains findings about facilities for indoor sports, community activities, commercial leisure, museums, culture and the arts.
The Review then identifies two development options for leisure and community facilities for Welwyn Garden City town centre and Broadwater Road West.
These options will inform the masterplanning process for Welwyn Garden City town centre and Broadwater Road West Supplementary Planning Documents, which will be the subject of further public consultation. Further assessment of feasibility and viability will take place as part of the ongoing masterplanning process.
The Welwyn Garden City Leisure and Community Review was considered by Councillors at the meeting of Social Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 2 November 2006, and ratified by full Cabinet on 7 November 2006. The committee papers are available to view here.
The Review can be viewed as a PDF file below and at the Council Offices, The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, Herts, AL8 6AE.
